The Asperion Environmental Policy
The Asperion has a strong commitment to you, our guest and also to the outside world which we all share. We are committed to ensuring that Surrey remains an area of outstanding natural beauty by doing our little part. We would welcome any suggestion you have either by way of completing a visitor feedback form, or by talking directly to us.
So that you can have an idea of what we are working towards, please find our ethos as well as a list of how we endeavor to reduce our waste, pollution, carbon and environmental impact:
Ethos
To be a socially responsible “more than for profit” hospitality business.
Mission Statement
We are in business to create a high quality guest experience that is ethical, sustainable and rewarding.
We are 100% committed to sourcing supplies that are environmentally friendly or will help those less fortunate than us.
We use re-cycled paper and envelopes and our empty print cartridges are donated ActionAid– in aid of the ‘Touching Tiny Lives Campaign’. As far as possible, we try to use e-mail wherever possible to save on paper and postage. Our fax machine prints is loaded with ‘scrap paper’.
We monitor our gas, electricity, waste and water consumption very closely.
The cleaning products used in your rooms and indeed the rest of the hotel, are all environmentally friendly and made from natural ingredients.
Our in room toiletries are organic and certified by the Soil Association.
We offer complimentary fair-trade /organic tea and coffee, and Divine faitrade chocolates as well as Frank mineral water in all of our rooms. Frank donates the majority of its profits to charity so that more wells can be built in Africa.
Our food and drink is organic (where possible), freshly prepared, locally sourced, ethically farmed, and fair-trade
Organic fruit is also available for your room at no extra charge
You wouldn’t wash your towels and linen everyday at home, so why would we do it here? Should you require fresh towels, please do not hang them up and room service will change them for you. Your linen will be changed every three days.
We recycle our light-bulbs. Our broken or older appliances are recycled in Slyfield Industrial Estate.
We use low energy lighting where possible as well as external timed lighting. We switch off all appliances and lights in areas which are not being used, including the guest accommodation.
We buy our energy and gas from renewable resources, and your water is heated with energy efficient boilers.
Our housekeeping team will recycle the glass, plastic and paper from your room bin.
We donate ‘old’ towels and linen to charities and shelters.
The Asperion provides sponsorship to help local businesses succeed. We support the Guildford Heat Basketball Team, which helps to get kids off the street and onto the basketball courts; The Guildford Book Festival, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, the Guildford Music Festival, and Visitsurrey.com. We also wholeheartedly support Chase – a children’s hospice in Guildford.
4% of our turnover is given back to the community, a substantial amount for a small business.
We are constantly reviewing our supply chain to ensure that it is ethical and wherever possible, local!
We invite you to help us in our mission to make the county a greener place by switching off your lights and appliances when not using them. We would also like to invite to you to participate in the bag it, bin it campaign. For more information on this campaign, please follow the link provided.?
